Founder Holly has always drawn inspiration for the Betsy & Floss collection from travel. From the vivid colours of India to the crystal waters of Italy’s Amalfi coast, but it was one particular journey that was truly transformative.
The Big Move: From London to the Cotswolds
Holly grew up in the Cotswolds but moving away for university, then embracing graduate life, she found herself in London. Working for fashion and lifestyle brands and immersed in the city’s rhythm, it was a place of opportunity and excitement, but with it came a constant buzz that sometimes left little room for reflection or creativity.
A few years on and expecting her first baby, she made the decision to return to the Cotswolds, a region famed for its idyllic countryside, charming villages, and less frantic pace of life. This move, along with the life changing experience of becoming a mother for the first time, marked a new chapter in her life and changed her vision for Betsy & Floss.
A New Source of Creativity: The Cotswolds' Influence
The beauty of the Cotswolds is more than just a backdrop for Holly. Walking the rolling hills and gazing at panoramic views of the countryside helps to clear her mind and allow new ideas to begin to form. It’s a unique place with stunning natural surroundings alongside an eclectic mix of villages and thriving towns and the energy brought by commuters and visitors from the hubs of London, Bristol and Bath and further afield.
As Holly immersed herself in this inspiring environment and discovered new demands from her wardrobe as a working mum, the designs for Betsy & Floss began to evolve with new additions like our much loved Manarola Backpack.
